ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - Former St. Bonaventure's women's lacrosse standout Robin Mason has been named to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American University Division Women's at-large third-team, by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Mason became eligible for All-American status on May 24, when she was selected to the All-District first-team.
Mason, who graduated last May with a 3.98 GPA as an elementary and special education major, was named the Atlantic 10 women's lacrosse Student-Athlete of the Year in each of her last two seasons.
A four-year starter, Mason not only excelled in the classroom but on the field, evident by her selection to the 2007 A-10 All-Conference first-team and the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-West/Midwest Region second team. The Baldwinsville, N.Y., native started all 62 games in her illustrious career and finished as the school's all-time leader with 153 ground balls. As a senior, she led the conference in both ground balls (3.2) per game and draw controls (3.3) per game - figures that both ranked 10th nationally. Mason had at least two draw controls in every game this season and collected four or more ground balls on seven occasions.
St. Bonaventure finished the 2007 season with an overall record of 8-7 and a 5-2 mark in the Atlantic 10. The Bonnies made their second-straight appearance at the A-10 tournament and the third of Mason's four year career. The Brown and White won an impressive 42 games over her four seasons.
