PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Three-time defending champion Richmond has been selected by the Conference's eight coaches to repeat as 2008 Atlantic 10 Women's Lacrosse champions.
The Spiders captured their third straight A-10 title after topping George Washington, 15-7, in the finals of the 2007 Championship. UR is led by two-time IWLCA All-American junior Mandy Friend, who returns as the A-10's No. 2 scorer from a year ago.
Massachusetts has been selected to finish second, with Temple tabbed for third. Duquesne and George Washington received the same number of votes to finish fourth.
The 2008 Atlantic 10 Lacrosse Championship will be held at McGuirk Stadium on the campus of the University of Massachusetts on April 25-27.
