LA SALLE lost a pair of close Conference matches over the weekend, first falling to Saint Louis by a score of 2-1 on Oct. 12. The Explorers outshot the Billikens 10-4 and led in penalty corners 11-4, but numbers couldn't translate into a victory. Adrianna Lalli (Bristol, Pa.) drove home her second goal of the season in the loss. La Salle played into a scoreless overtime at Richmond on Oct. 14, but a breakaway goal from the Spiders two and half minutes into the extra period handed the Explorers their third straight loss of the season. It was the fourth overtime loss this year for La Salle (8-9, 1-3), who fell under .500 for the first time this season.

MASSACHUSETTS' Katie Kelly (Dedham, Mass.) scored the lone Minutewomen goal in an Oct. 12 match against Temple. With the teams locked up 1-1 with just over two minutes to play, the Owls broke the tie and handed UMass its first Conference loss of the season. The Minutewomen rebounded on Oct. 14 with a dramatic 1-0 victory at Saint Joseph's. Christine Rodgers (Leominster, Mass.) knocked in a rebound late in the first half and that was all UMass (8-7, 3-1) needed. It was the first career goal for the sophomore forward.

RHODE ISLAND senior M.J. Britt (Swoyersville, Pa.) recorded a season-high 14 saves as Rhode Island dropped a 3-0 decision to Saint Joseph's on Oct. 12. Britt then turned away 13 shots on Oct. 14 in the Rams' 6-1 loss to Temple. Sophomore Jill Powers (Leominster, Mass.) notched her team-leading seventh goal of the season in the loss. The Rams (7-7, 1-3) are scheduled at home against Richmond on Oct. 19 and at Saint Louis on Oct. 21.

RICHMOND gave up three early goals and a comeback bid was not enough against visiting West Chester on Oct. 12. Sophomore Adrian Pickar (Ijamsville, Md) scored her fourth goal in three conference games in the 4-2 loss. The Spiders bounced back in dramatic form after sophomores Megan Thompson (Gap, Pa.) and Jess Weidner (Harrisburg, Pa.) connected for a 1-0 overtime victory over La Salle on Oct. 14. Richmond has now won 45 of its last 46 matches against Atlantic 10 opponents since 2001.

SAINT JOSEPH'S received two goals from junior forward Marisa Pizzo (Rosemont, Pa.) which powered the Hawks past Rhode Island by a score of 3-0 on Oct. 12. Junior Krista Bordogna (Marmora, N.J.) scored an insurance goal late in the second half to seal the win. A late first half goal gave Massachusetts a 1-0 victory over the Saint Joseph's on Oct. 14. SJU senior goalkeeper Rebecca Cunfer (Manheim, Pa.) made six saves for the Hawks, who take their 7-7 record on the road for contests against West Chester (Oct. 19) and La Salle (Oct. 21).

SAINT LOUISreceived an early second half goal from Jacklyn McGranahan (Bay Village, Ohio) to boost the Billkins past La Salle, 2-1 on Oct. 12. The win snapped a seven-game losing streak for the Billikens. On Oct. 14, Saint Louis dropped their second overtime contest of the season with a 3-2 loss at the hands of West Chester. The Billikens fall to 3-13 overall and 1-3 in the A-10.

TEMPLE added two more wins to its Conference-best record with victories at home against Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Sophomore Kasey Ruth (Schwenksville, Pa.) came through with two goals to clinch a Temple victory over UMass, 2-1, on Oct. 12. With an Oct. 14 match against Rhode Island, it was senior Alli Lokey's (Bainbridge, Pa.) four goals that propelled the Owls to a convincing 6-1 win. The victory over Rhode Island marks the first time this season that Temple has scored six goals in a single game. Lokey's four-goal performance is most goals in a game of anyone in the Atlantic 10 this season. The Owls improved to a Conference-leading 12-5 overall record and 3-1 in conference play.

WEST CHESTER snapped five-time Atlantic 10 Champion Richmond's 44-game unbeaten streak against Atlantic 10 opponents, which dated back to the 2001 season, with a convincing 4-2 victory on Oct. 12. The Golden Rams were in control early after scoring two goals in the first 6:33 and after adding a third 19:46 into the match, they had a 3-0 lead and never looked back. Freshman Alex Swayze (Pennsburg, Pa.) scored two goals in the win, including the game-winner. West Chester's success continued on Oct. 14 with a 3-2 overtime win against Saint Louis. The victory marks the 400th victory in the program's 49-year history. Shelly Brooks (Elizabethtown, Pa.) converted two penalty strokes, including the game-winner with 5:02 left in the first overtime period to seal the Golden Rams' second straight league win. The Golden Rams (5-9, 2-2) have home games scheduled against Saint Joseph's (Oct. 19) and Temple (Oct. 21).
