PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Two Atlantic 10 men's soccer players earned All-America honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Saint Louis junior defender Calum Angus (Hampshire, England) was named to the Second-Team while senior goalkeeper Zack Simmons (Durham, N.H.) of Massachusetts earned Third-Team honors.
Angus was a mainstay in the central backfield. He was a key reason why the Billikens boasted the league's top defensive unit, yielding just 13 goals and registering nine shutouts in 19 matches. The Billikens' 0.64 goals against average ranked 12th in the nation. This honor adds to a long list of accolades for Angus, who earlier this postseason was named a third-team All-American by College Soccer News in addition to earning a spot on TopDrawerSoccer.com's National Team of the Year.
Simmons led the Minutemen to the NCAA Championship semifinal game where he made six saves en route to a 1-0 loss and posted a final record of 17-8-1. He was named to the College Cup All-Tournament Team and earlier in the season was named the Atlantic 10 Tournament MVP. He earned spots on the A-10 All-Tournament Team, the A-10 All-Conference First-Team, was named the A-10 Men's Soccer Student-Athlete of the Year, and earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second-Team honors. He was the first UMass soccer player to earn All-America honors since Jeff Deren in 2002.
