INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Kristal Yush, an assistant coach with the University of Rhode Island women's track & field team, placed second in the hammer throw at the 2007 AT&T USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, June 23 in Indianapolis, IN.
Yush, who placed fifth at the national championship meet a year ago, launched a 223-11 heave in her first attempt. Eventual winner Brittany Riley ended up winning with a 237-07 final round performance.
By virtue of her silver medal at the national championship, Yush earned the right to represent the United States at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro on July 13-29, as well as at the 2007 IAAF World Championship in Athletics in Osaka, Japan from Aug. 24-Sept. 2.
She is scheduled to compete at the Pan-Am Games on Monday, July 23, while the hammer qualifying rounds start on Tuesday, Aug. 28 at the IAAF World Championship.
