PHILADELPHIA, PA - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has named La Salle's Sean Quigley its Division I Mid-Atlantic District Athlete of the Year for 2007.
Quigley, who will compete in the 10,000-meter event at the NCAA Championship meet on Wednesday in Sacramento, CA, is a three-time All-American including two such honors in cross country and one attained at this year's indoor championships where he finished seventh in the 5,000m.
The Braintree, MA, native also qualified nationally for the 5,000m after winning the event at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships in Charlotte, NC but will run in the 10,000m at nationals. He was named the Conference's Most Outstanding Performer in cross country after winning the 2006 A-10 individual title and earned Most Outstanding Track Performers honors at the 2007 A-10 Indoor Track & Field Championship after claiming gold in the mile and 3,000m.
Quigley earned his 10,000m qualification by posting a time of 28:29.16 at the Stanford Invitational in April. He retains one season of eligibility in indoor and outdoor track and will return for a final season at La Salle.
