COMPETITION RULES
- The rules for the competition will be the same that were followed for the preliminary events on campus.
- Each shooting spot is worth a different point value, ranging from 1 to 8 points, based on the difficulty of the shot. All rounds will be 30 seconds.
- One player begins on the half-court line with the ball. The second player begins at any place within the half-court area.
- The announcer indicates when play begins. The player at half-court can either dribble to any shooting spot or pass the ball.
- Teammates MUST alternate shots.
- A 10-point bonus is awarded for teams making at least one (1) shot from each of the seven (7) shooting spots.
- An individual player cannot shoot consecutively from the same spot.
- Each player must begin his/her shot touching the marked shooting spot.
- If player 1 shoots, player 2 dribbles or is passed the ball for the next shot.
- There is no 'out-of-bounds'. Spotters will only STOP the ball, & will not pass it back into play.
- The last shot must leave the player's hand before the final buzzer in order to count.
- The Event Manager has jurisdiction & final ruling on all disputes.
COMPETITION FORMAT
Friday, March 9 (Subject to Change)
- The teams will be divided into two groups of seven. Your shooting time will depend on a random drawing during shoot around on Friday afternoon.
- Teams will shoot one at a time, with the next team on the other side of the court ready to go once the current shooting team has finished.
- Teams will shoot to score the most points & not head-to-head. The two highest scores will advance to Saturday's competition.
- In the case of ties to determine the top two teams from Group One, the tied teams will continue to shoot to determine the two highest scoring teams. A full timeout will only be used in the second half if needed.
- The remaining seven teams will shoot in the same format during the second game on Friday's doubleheader. The top two scores from the second halftime will advance to Saturday's final.
Saturday, March 10 (Subject to Change)
- The four remaining teams will compete during halftime of the Championship game on Saturday to determine 1st - 4th place.
- All four teams will shoot, two at a time. The top two scores will advance to the final round.
- The two final teams will shoot one at a time to determine 1st & 2nd place.
- If there is a tie in any round, the teams will continue to shoot until one team has scored more than the other to advance.
- Time permitting; all tie-breakers will occur during the halftime. We will only use a full timeout in the second half if needed, to determine the champion.
AWARDS
Awards for 1st & 2nd place will be presented on the court after the Championship round on Saturday, March 15. All other prizes will be distributed after the competition (all teams will receive a prize). The check for the winners will be mailed from CSTV 4-6 weeks after competition.
