 | UMass Names Derek Kellogg Men's Basketball Coach Former Minuteman point guard and Springfield native Derek Kellogg has been named the 21st head coach in University of Massachusetts men's basketball history, it was announced by Director of Athletics John McCutcheon on Wednesday evening. The 1995 UMass graduate returns to his alma mater for his first head coaching job after serving as an assistant coach for 12 years, the last eight at the University of Memphis under former UMass head coach John Calipari. |
 | Xavier's Sean Miller Inks Contract Extension Xavier University Associate Vice President and Athletic Director Mike Bobinski announced today that the University and head men's basketball coach Sean Miller have agreed to an extended contract that will run through the 2017-18 season. The 39-year-old Miller, who had a six-year contract when he was hired on July 8, 2004, is receiving his third contract extension and the longest ever given to a Xavier University head coach. The new deal is a 10-year agreement beginning in the 2008-09 season and running through the 2017-18 season. |

Xavier teammates Stanley Burrell, Josh Duncan and Drew Lavender will be joined by Parfait Bitee of Rhode Island; Saint Joseph's Pat Calathes; Bryant Dunston of Fordham; Massachusetts' Gary Forbes; Brian Roberts of Dayton; and Temple's Mark Tyndale. |
